Why to bother learning about brain MRI?

History, Examination, Radiology and neuropharmacology are the 4 essential tools for all neurologist.

When it comes to the central nervous system, history and examination will localize the pathology then comes radiology to help identifying the pathology and guide treatment. A patient with hemiplegia can be anything from ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke, demyelinating disease, tumor etc. With history and exam we can only reach the most likely etiology but will not be definite without imaging.

Twenty fiver percent of our skill will depend on how good we are in reading a brain or spine MRI. Basically, a good neurologist shouldn't let his career depends on how skillful the neuro-radiologist is.
